Radio hunts for station when turned on...
« on: 29 February 2008, 20:47:45 »

Having just had some work done on the car I've found that when I turn the radio on it doesn't revert to the last radio station it was on.  It starts working it's way up the FM band until I hit a preset, which then tunes into a station.

I guess this has happened due to the battery being disconnected.  Is this something I will have to live with as I'm used to just turning the radio on and hearing the radio?

Try turning radio on then pushing button 1 if original tuned station comes on push same button until channel is heard then do the same to all other tuning buttons that should sort it.
If it doesn't you will have to completely retune the radio.

Cheers for the tip.  I've only turned on the radio three times since this started happening, so I'll see if entwood is right, if not it sounds like it's a case of storing the presets again.

Let it finish doing it's own thing before you press anything.

Exactly that - most of the radios have a "Learn" function to know ehere the stations are to make it quicker for the RDS functionality, such as PTY, TA, and of course the alternative change of frequency as you are driving along.

When power is disconnected, the radio stations may remin stored, but the rest of the data is usually lost, so it needs to build up its memory again. If you press anything while this is happenening, it stops loading its memeory and does what you have asked instead.

Thanks for the advice.  Its all sorted now.  I turned the radio on this morning and it ran through FM for about five seconds and then tuned into my ususal preset.

So the advice to just leave it alone to do its thing was correct.
