A little low if anything, but certainly not going to cause the battery to vent.

Is the positive battery terminal getting hot when the engine's running?

What is the battery voltage when the engine is not running and the headlights are on?

Does the battery seem in OK condition? Starts Ok?

OK. Was just thinking that it could be a failed cell in the battery causing the remaining ones to overcharge and vent. If it has cleared up now I guess the battery could have just been overfilled. I would keep an eye on it, and also bear in mind that the charging voltage is a little low, so if you do encounter lowe battery problems that's a starting point.
