CD30 Head unit
« on: 10 April 2008, 19:30:52 »

As I understand it this model has to be Tech IIed to the car.
Does anyone know how much a dealer will charge for this or does anyone own a Tech II in Kent that can help me out if I buy one of these head units?

Vauxhall CD30
Opel EHU 2a Minus

Blaupunkt CD / Tuner as fitted to Opel and Vauxhall Vehicles

This is quite a popular stereo to find on the net, but many are described as having codes with them which is completely misleading and incorrect, as the unit itself does not require a code upon correct installation. If you own a late model Vauxhall or Opel, then you will be familiar with the "Unlock" or "PUK" code for your vehicle that is used for a variety of reasons. This 4 digit code number is unique to each vehicle, and it is often this vehicle specific code number that is described when people are advertising their radio for sale. The Vehicle PUK number will not allow the radio to be used in anything other than the original car.

You will often hear the term "Married" radio, and this is because the stereo is programmed with encrypted data that will only allow it to communicate with the original vehicle and no other, and the equipment used to program the stereo and the car together is called a Tech2 programmer. The Tech2 plugs into the diagnostic socket of the car and can then be used to perform various programming routines, one of which is to allow the radio and car to communicate with each other.

But this is where it gets more confusing. At the time of writing, 99.9% of the Tech2 programmers, (and that includes virtually all of the Vauxhall OEM diagnostic equipment) are unable to program any radio that has previously been fitted, as the radios, (as far as Tech2 is concerned) are supplied and programmed as a "write once only" operation. There is an exception to this that is seldom followed, and that is the correct removal of the stereo from the original vehicle. This is not done with a cheap set of removal keys, but involves plugging in the Tech2 into the original car and wiping the memory of the radio prior to de-installation. In other words, in order to remove it from the car, it has to be de-programmed first, not simply pulled out. Correct removal is called "Divorcing" and if you find a correctly "Divorced" radio, then you will have no problems in getting someone with a Tech2 to program it into your car. Tech2 cannot divorce a radio from any vehicle other than the original. So, until now, if you have bought a radio from Ebay or a breakers, there have been no other solutions!!

We now have the ability to reset this unit into its original "Virgin" and brand new programming state, often named as "Delivery Mode" and this will then allow it to be programmed into the new car by somebody with a Tech2.

Please be aware that if you use our service to reset your stereo into "Delivery Mode", you will still need to enlist the assistance of a Garage with a Tech2 and pay them to to then program it into your own vehicle. Our service is simply resetting the unit so that it CAN be reprogrammed.

All you need to do is send us your stereo with a payment, it`s as easy as that. We would strongly suggest that once we have reset your stereo, that the next stage of Tech2 programming is conducted by a Vauxhall / Opel Main Dealer or Independant Specialist, and not your local back street garage, however friendly they may be.

There are Tech2 specialist on this forum, and they would be the obvious peope to contact for reprogramming into your car. I dare say that they will be along shortly to assist with that bit.

Thanks Dave, funny thing is I have just come across that explanation on your website  :y
I have seen a few advertised stating that the unit is in "virginized mode" I am guessing that this is the same as divorced mode?
