Headlights
« on: 15 April 2008, 17:57:52 »

Please excuse me if I don't explain this to well.. :-[

Right here goes..I brought two headlights off of Ebay, not Vauxhall but identical to the originals I have on my 98 2.5 elite, trouble is on the originals there is this cap with three screws holding it in place and under this is a red and black plug..will this fit the ones I brought off ebay which have all the same holes and grooves..in fact this red and black plug seem to be the only difference.. also is there a bulb under this red and black plug ??

Or have I brought a heap of s**t ::) hope not :'(

Love the Haynes Manual which says "remove three screws and remove headlight"  Yea.. like f**k it does..

You have HID headlights on your Omega...It may well be that the ones you bought look the same but are in fact projector headlights...are all the connectors the same on the back, because the HID connector for the main beam is different...do you have a little silver box on the bottom of the new headlights like you will have on your old ones...

Removing the headlights really is very simple...remove the top 2 bolts...then 2 access the 3rd one remove the little grille next to the foglight to gain easy...all 10mm bolts...although you do need to remove the centre grille and underlight trim for easier removal of the light unit itself

I think...the good news is that you should be able to remove the red/black cap and screw it into the other unit regardless...but I may be wrong...

Yes there is a bulb under there a D2S one, very different to normal looking bulbs...

What you have bought may not be total crap, but may not be right for your needs...

Hi Chris.

I'v just taken the red and black plug and bulb off the old one and there's no way the bulb and fitting it is going to fit the new headlight..on the new one there is just a hole where the bulb goes and a spring clip to hold it in and the two wires ..live and earth..brown earth and yellow live. and there is no silver box underneath, but all the holes where it should be are there

I brought them because the reflector in one was moving about and had dropped down inside..

Can the new ones still work without all the bits that are on the old ones..one thing these new ones have is the lens is held on with metal clips

ebay link..sorry it's so long.

Well the bad news is they are the wrong lights...

Good news though is you should easily get your money back selling them on ebay...put them up for £50 plus postage (or try selling them on here) and you will almost certainly get your money back...or you could ask for your money back as they clearly state they fit all Omegas and they dont fit yours because you have HID headlights...

Also, which headlight is duff?? I have an HID headlight here, doesnt have the silver pack as that was sold, but easy to swap yours onto this one...just depends if the one you need is the one I have...or not :) lol
