Just been out trying to troubleshoot this, and the GPS receiver is on the dash next to the tax disc like you mentioned. The error codes I'm getting:

READ ERROR STORE :
Code 1
Count 2
Type HW Failure

and READ INTERNAL I/O:
GPS Status either Search or ---- or COM ERROR
Then temp and battery details.

Took centre dash off, check connections, followed loom and checked Carin drive in back, all seems to be OK. I guess its the GPS receiver then.

Bah!

That's the error code I get when disconnecting the GPS Mouse.

However, to reiterate a previous post, if yours is a saloon, there is an extension cable in the loom so you need to check this connection AND the one to the Brain unit.

Sounds like the receiver has failed

Reciever is usually a black square, with a coax lead coming from it, ending in an SMB-F connector.

I have one £10 inc postage.

update:

thanks to all who helped with advice; sat nav working a treat now after i replaced gps mouse. couldnt see value of ripping out old mouse from dash, lifting cable throughout the car etc only to replace with new one, so i fitted the new gps mouse on the rear parcel shelf directly above the satnav disc drive and left the old one where it is. perfect!

thanks again!  :y
