Can't tell if fog lights are on.
« on: 03 September 2008, 18:00:23 »

There is no indication in the instrument cluster as to whether the fog lights are engaged or not. This is for front or rear. Is this likely to be a dodgy headlamp switch or a loose connection somewhere?

Thanks

There should be a tell tale on the dash. Are the lamps OK?

yes, the fog lights come on but nothing in the dash for either front or rear. Should their be separate lights in the dash for front and rear?

Yes. Earlier cars had the tell-tale/warning lamp on the actual switch. Mini face lift & facelift have a seperae lamp on the dash for each of the front & rear fogs lamps.

As well or instead of? My 99 cdx had both. My 3.2 has only lights on the dash. No lights on the switch, not even so you can see the buttons in the dark. Nothing. Presumably the night lights should be there. But the on off as well?

Instead of. early ones had it on light switch, mini facelift and later on dash. If you had one with both, it would be a minifacelift/facelift that has had a replacement lightswitch

There should be back lights, I've never had to open this switch up but a Senator used to have a soldered in lamp about the size of a grain of rice. I replaced mine with some from a local radio spares shop.

There are definately marking for two fog light tell tails in the dash, either side of the speedometer. It looks like someone has replaced the headlamp switch, so perhaps that is what is needed.
