what head unit to replace 2015(and cid?)
« on: 20 December 2008, 14:19:53 »

assume some catastrophie with 2015/13 with cid what ever that may be, what and how would you replace it, paying special attention to the fact that the original is paired with the cid which also runs check controle for the car warnings and presumably one is completely useless without the other?

What after market head unit is available with a seperate screen? None that i know of. Are you stuck with replacing like for like? Or would a similar unit from a more modern up to date vauxhall model work/fit?

Nothing much wrong with mine, apart from the general age of the unit and certain short comings beyond the units control, ie no traffic on the rather basic nav system, no mp3 disc play back without wearing the optics and how do you connect an ipod? Direct controle of that is out of the question via 2015. All that got me thinking about changeing it, but can you, with the cid?
Tia.

Chris.

Some Sony Units can drive the VX MID/TID/GID Display so a CID should work?

Auto leads sell the magic box of tricks! my old SRi Vectra had an XPLOD unit in it that drove the MID

You could always downgrade! Oh and i'll have the original loom off you.

To be honest if I was going the third party route I think i'd go for a double DIN unit (with appropriate surround) like JayW has in his CDX then try and put a standard MID etc in to get the trip computer functions back if possible - Don't know how possible that is though.

Very doubtful, very different to MID/TID

well i guess any project could be financed in part by selling the 2015 with cid and telematics. How much is that lot worth out of interest? I realise the price may vary according to weather the advisor may desire one or not.... ;)

Provided a suitable replacment can be found of course.

Oh and i was forgetting Bose, nothings going to work with that and the cid surely? Sounds like a mare already.

Well i've just bought a 2015/Telematics and GID for £90.... only to find a day later i'd just won a brand new telematics for £24!  ::) ;D

Only wanted the telematics unit to add to my existing setup!

Nobody makes a display adaptor for the GID, half height close pixel MID or the CID.

It was listed as being compatable on the soundlinxs/ autoleads website, but within 2 hours of me questioning it (i had bought one and it didn't work so i complained about wasting £60), it was removed and i was advised they didn't do one

not bad for telematics vxl. Is there room for 2 in the glove box. ::)

So, Phil confirms it then, its a case of put up with it, which is not to bad really,  or change the car then?or find a way to get traffic and ipod control into your 2015/13?

was at an ice shop today getting the Mrs polo sorted out, saw a Gold elite estate parked up outside after an install, it had a sony head unit fitted, big touch screen and barely any buttons so guess a touch screen. They couldnt tell me if it operated the cid but i guess it didnt need to with a screen of double din size.
