How can such a little spring make my arm hurt so m
« on: 11 February 2008, 21:40:15 »

Stupid poxy handbrake springs.  I've pulled my arm somehow doing it. Now in a bit of agony, much to Mrs TheBoy's amusement - she keeps using my favourite saying "a bit of pain never hury anyone".

One of the shoe to backplate springs nearly got me.  Despite it being dark at the time, the engineer's ear (ignoring all background noise and listening to where it lands) pinpointed it to near the road...

I've found its not the spring thats the biggest problem but the nice little shaped cup that the retaining pin needs to rotate into, if it snaps out of the needle nosed pliers.  It then goes into virtual stellar orbit, assisted by the steady spring......

Yes, it was that bit. The spring just gracefully dropped down.

You may jest but I worked with a guy 40 yrs ago who lost his eye because of a spring
He had a glass one & used to delight in removing it, holding it in the palm of his hand, and shaking the hand of strangers!!
Do you wonder why safety goggles are worn these days??

Unlike you girls, us blokes (well, those more masculine blokes anyway) only complain about pain when it really hurts  :P

Those who know me know I never take any medication - its the body's defence system to give pain when damaged, so a bit of pain is good.

I did relent when I came off the bike nearly 3 yrs ago, and took some of her prescription painkillers.  WOW - I was in a strange parallel world for a few hours.  Trouble is, when they wore off, body went in shock due to pain, and I passed out  ::)

Thing is, my arm is still killing me today - thank god I have an auto, else I'd never have got in today.

Feels like I've done something to the muscle in my left forearm.

Reckon I shall take some medication when I get home - a special medication from Belgium, has a picture of a horn on the label, and tastes rather nice..... ;)
