Face lift Headunit 2013 with satnav?
« on: 15 January 2009, 20:37:29 »

My Girlfriends Dad has bought a Face lift Elite with 42k on the clock on a W plate.

It has the Slots at the lower of the unit for discs and also the Satnav, the owner did not have the Dics for it to load the satalite.

Is there an easy option around this as he cant find one on ebay for great britain/europe.

Thanks.

Yep....satnav disk.....this one is a genuine on and not a copy (coz we cant discuss copyright breaking material on here ;))

Goes in the top slot....does he have a colour screen or just the graphical one?

Pretty sure you won't get TMC to work in the UK, mine works fine when in France..

Could be wrong here, but my understanding was that Vauxhall never paid for the hardware licence to be developed for the UK, so no matter what software you get on a disc, the unit itself may not be designed to recognise it.

European TMC is different, as regional licenses were not required as a subscription - so unit should function fine when abroad.

It would appear not - Vauxhall didn't pay for TMC (untiil later), so its not on any of the map disks for NCDC series.  You need a 2004 or later map disk to enable TMC software, but this will still not work in UK, only Europe.

Thanks for that TB and Dan just avt to disable it in the settings

I did have a garmin on my 2.5 and when i started useing the built in system i was a bit disapointed to say the least no post code etc but ive got used to it now and quite frankly i think its ok its very accurate just a bit of a pain putting in the addresses but now most of my destinations are in the memory its not too much of a pain i did have speed cameras on the garmin but  it never shut up beeping at me where as the built in just tells me when to turn and thats it i arrive at my destination without fail and never once have i lost the signal soooo its growing on me to use a well worn cliche
