did it get changed on newer ones? (mine were 2000 and 2001)

Hold it? i'll try that.....

My Y plate was just a push too without holding it :-/

Anyway thanks i will try it...

I think its a stupid set up anyway, why would you push a button on the dash when you got a button on the key??
Surely the dash switch should work with the key in!?
I personally would like it to work with the key in and the engine running,i know its for safety and wont open when your tramping at 60 mph but surely they could make it work when its in Park or in conjuction with the handbrake :-/

I know its all safety but, whats the point of having a dash button if you have to take the key out for it to work??? surely you press the key fob....since its in your hand anyway? :-/ :D ;D

When you`ve done the mod you`ll notice that the interior light delay is slightly longer i.e It won`t go out immediately on inserting key :y

Not sure on that one. Still, it don`t hurt to snip the wire and find out. No harm done :)

On the later facelifts you do, it`s not a quick "one-touch" as the earlier facelifts were :y

Earlier facelifts (up to about 2001), key had to be out, then press the button.  Hillper's boot mod overcame this, but with annoying side effect that coutesy light always stayed on for 10s

Later facelifts, you had to press and hold release button for about 2s.  No real need to modify this.
