Do Estates have aerial boosters?
If so where are they located?

Some Estates (early ones) have booster boxes for the Rear Window Aerial jobby (think the located in the rear door). Not sure about Estates with proper aerials thou, think there wired straight through.

Why do you ask?, common fault on the Estate Rear Window ones are the Coax Cable gets damaged on the loom (inside the gromet) on the rear Door Hinge (easy fix).

Because turning on the HRW causes interference which on saloons is alleged to be caused by integral ariel in rear window/booster amp
