Does anyone use one of these tape adapters in there car I am just wondering if it will work ok and if the wire will cause any problems when it is inserted in to the head unit  :question
I dont want tobuy one and then try to use it and find it all gets stuck in the Head unit

i used the tape adapters years ago transmitters are better but still not ideal your better of with an after market ipod ready head unit
the wires arnt a problem just poor audio from those cassete adapters

I have a transmitter type and I am not that impressed with them it seems to keep loosing the frequency as you travel

it depends on the one you have try tuning around 88MHz
what is happening is that radio stations around you are over powering it so you need to find some clear frequency's

the 60 odd quid one from belkin is not to bad
but not cheap either for that your on your way too a new headunit

yeah i agree, i have a griffin one that plugs into the bottom of my ipod. it charges the ipod from the ciggy lighter and i can set the frequency inline between the charger and the ipod. i use 107.9 and have my radio memory set to that...just plug in and press play, i dont even have to adjust the ipods volume!

Depends on which definition of "stereo" you are using, and in which context.

Too many variables to even possibly contemplate an answer

I often wondered how these modulators tackeled the stereo transmission issue.

Given that (mainly for those who are not aware) the main FM transmission as a mono signal consisting of the left and right channels summed togther is nice and easy to do.

To get stereo a further AM (supressed carrier) channel is transmitted at 38Kz higher than the FM channel with a difference signal (L - R) plus the need for a pilot tone at 19khz

And hence why disabling stereo on FM recevers with hiss cleaned the signal up.

I always wondered just how many of these budget devices did the works!

I guess very few I note a few very poor Cross talk figures!)

As for cassette adapters, I have used them in the MV6 - on long trips, eg holidays in France, I'd have the iPaq, which also did the satnav, playing media player all day long off a 4Gb card, on top of the 6 discs in the boot.

Quality was acceptable.

You are, of course, welcome to borrow long term to see how you get on - it may be no good to you, or it may suit your needs exactly.

I don't use it anymore, as the MV6 no longer has a cassette player.
