With ref to the talk on Lilies, be very careful if you have a cat.

See Link:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/05/06/nlilly06.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/05/06/ixhome.html

My wife likes Lilies, but we never dared to have them whilst we had
a cat.

Watch for the pollen as well. It stains something terrible. If it gets
on your clothes, don't try to brush or wash it off, it will just stain.
Get some sticky tape and lift it off instead.
It even tried to stain my wooden floor when the pollen and petals
dropped off.

Arh see if you remove the steams (the pollen bits that stain) as the lillies open (i pintch them off with a paper towel carefully)
one, they dont stain as you have removed them before they fall off.
Two. the lilles dont smell as much.
Three. they last longer!

i would still becarefull of the cat place them in a place where the cat cant get to them! You will have removed the bit that kills the cat. just better to be safe then sorry.

Any one who does this and removes the poisonous stamens, could you please post them to me so I can spread them on my garden, with any luck the local population will eat them and stop crapping in my borders.

Cats are NOT pets, they are feral animals and should be banned/shot/poisened/castrated *     *delete as applicable.
