CDR2006 auxilliary input?
« on: 14 June 2009, 08:45:26 »

I have a CDR2006 in my Omega and know it has auxilliary inputs for phone and satnav only - I understand there is a separate wire that switches the input to active and turns the radio down or off.

Can I fool the radio into accepting an input from my MP3 player by switching this signal to ground (or 12 volts) to tell it to listen, and which way round would I connect it?

The phone input is mono.

If you want your gayPod or whatever plugged in on this headunit, its FM adapters or cassette adapters only

Which isn't really using the stereo, more bypassing it?

Yes, its bypassing it.

After a recent post by another OOfer, I looked into it further, and the built in 4 channel amp on the later Parrot kit is not far off the quality of the original Vx head unit. Yes, its poor by modern car audio standards, but if you are used to the basic sound in the Omega, this would indeed provide a very good solution, and a Phone kit as an added bonus.

This goes in line with the ISO plug on the rear (not for BOSE) and powers the speakers directly without the need to use the head unit at all.

Thanks all - I'll have a look at the Parrot.
