Attitude of other drivers on the road
« on: 14 February 2008, 11:01:24 »

Just wondering what other drivers give you an attitude on the road. I get a lot of hassle from BMW and Golf drivers in general.

I agree......modified the poll to allow people to vote for more than one car type.

Although idiots do come in all shapes and size of car (Nearly had a dopey bugger in a Polo drive into the rear right quarter this morning) there is a definite correlation between ridiculous driving and the value of the vehicle.

I think that it's the perception of status which is the main factor - Have big Merc/BMW/4x4 and own the road.

Nothing like a good bit of stereotyping  :D

True. There's a fair bit of "I don't care as much about this ropey old van as you do your shiny car- my right of way" on the roads.

BWM, Audi and Merc are bad. VW passats, etc. to a point as well. All got a chip on their shoulder because whilst they never have a car more then a couple of years old, company car policy specifies a tractor every time.  ;D

Big 4x4s seem to think they own the road (including 1/2  of the offside half of the carriageway because they have no clue how much road their vehicle takes up). I don't begrudge them that because it's amusing to watch them try to throw them round corners - before kicking down and leaving them. ;D Well, if I wanted a sports car...

have you noticed that even the drivers of the older makes and models still have the "i own the road syndrome " i had a young lad in an old shape BMW 3 series up me chuff last night on st peters way 50 mph
speed limit, rush hour ,speed cameras ,but he still had to pass me

Yeah you get hassle from the "my cars older than yours but its still better" or "your car is old (3 litre) but my new polo (1 litre) is just as fast as yours"

i hate house wives with the big 4x4. whats the point??????????

its not as if they need a big car to do the shopping, take the kids to school >:(

oh sorry i forgot that they have to go off road between home and doing the shopping/school run. ;D ;D :-/

and what peves me off even more is perants who only have one kid in the car!!!!! >:(

my mother had i big ford ranger for pottering around in. her excuse was that she needed a big car for the dogs. i told her that an estate is just as good. so she got rid of the 4x4 cos she soon realised how much it cost to run. she never realised how much one tyre was. ;D ;D

People in anonomous middle sized cars who go apoleptic if you over take them.

Both were mad light flashing sessions after I passed them when both were slow around 20 under limit, but a speed limit in the distance.

One I brought to a halt, the other I lost.

The first I see about once every few weeks and never goes over 40. The other is too forgettable.

I do get people panicing when they see an Omega, including turning off so I can pass, I put this down to them feeling guilty, and I wonder what would happen if I followed them ;D.

Off roaders around here are used - either towing or driving on grotty ground
