Very odd CCRT700 problem...
« on: 10 August 2009, 16:28:23 »

The CCRT700 in my tractor has a couple of problems, one very suddenly as of today.

1) It doesn't tune to even numbered decimals. I.E. I listen to Beacon radio which is 97.2 but the manual tune will only let me tune to 97.1 or 97.3. I understand this is the American setting and can only be changed by Tech2.

2) Left work this morning scanning through the crappy stations I've got saved using the up arrow on the steering wheel and it seems to have lost half of them, normally it has 12 or 13 on the cycle but now I have 5!

So any ideas or should I just bin it the same as I have the CDC2 as that loads a disc, stops dead makes a few clicking noises and then does nothing, even refusing to eject the cartridge! I've ended up just switching the whole bl00dy lot off, listening to the lovely straight 6 diesel instead! ;D

Not got a clue about Number 2 but it could be related to your first point

Number 1. Doesn't require a Tech 2. I sorted this on mine myself.

Turn radio off. Hold the button that has a picture of a musical note and turn on. This brings up a menu. Select MW Steps and you want 9KHz.

This sorted mine  :y

It does indeed sound as though it has defaulted to US mode, which would account for the 20Khz frequncy jumps and also the loss of your favourite stations.

Try rmoving the stereo for an hour, and then refit - enter code and see if it has come back to life - if not then tech2 session is called for.

Unfortunately, this is a common symptom of the internal eeprom dying, and its inability to retain information that has been programmed. If symptoms persist after tech2 session (usually works though) then a new eeprom is next option, but a bugger to get hold of nowadays.

No harm in trying this, but doesn`t work on all versions of CCRT700.

If it does work though, it possibly means inadvertantly pressing some buttons had reprogrammed it - and all may be well
