You need to check the runners, you will probably find a coin stuck in one of them ;)

Look VERY carefully down the left side of the seat, between the seat cushion and the seatbelt stalk, right in there is a small slot that coins seem to be attracted to, very difficult to see even with a torch. But on 3 occassions now I've had coins drop in there and jam the system exactly as you describe.. last time was just a few weeks ago and was a 1 euro coin .. :(

On the old miggy I actually had to take the seat out to remove one very bent coin .. and if the seat won't move then taking it out becomes exceddingly difficult.

If a  coin IS stuck down there you have 2 options .. try and lift it upwards using very long-nosed pliers, or force it all the way down with a long screwdriver and a wack with a hammer ....  :(

Found 500 quid once just by changing the courtesy light bulb in my old BM  :), was tempted to send the money back to the previous owner but passed too many Pubs on the way to Post Box.  :D
