Congestion Charge
« on: 15 February 2008, 13:23:26 »

New Congestion Charge for Londoners from October 2008...

Cars up to 120g/km CO2 are exempt.

Cars from 121 to 225 pay 'standard' charge of £8

cars from 225 upwards pay £25, but only if registered after 1 March 2001.

Alternative Fuel cars (i.e. Hybrid and Gas) are no longer automatically exempt, instead they will have to pay liken everyone else based on CO2 emissions.

There is however something to slightly sweeten the pill  for those who just bought new a Prius, any alternative fuel car registered with TFL prior to October 2008 will continue to benefit from charge exemption until January 2010 provided the car did not change ownership.

Now both my cars are above the 225 limit, but while one is R98 so will keep paying £8, sadly the Omega was registered in June 2001 so will attract the £25 charge...

My options are to wither sell it and get an older Omega (e.g. a nice 3.0L x-reg facelift), or buy a newer small car.

The wonders of Mr. Livingston... if I sell my 2.6L car and buy an older one with a 3.0 L engine I pay the lower Congestion Charge  :o

but either way my 2001 Omega will have to go  :'(

watch the 'for sale' section  ;)

What about my 2000 registered Westfield on a "Q" plate that doesn't even have a cat, crankcase and fuel tank both vented to the atmosphere?  [smiley=evil.gif]

There's an option for you....

I can see a revival in classic V8 powered cars if this keeps up. ;)

Until they ban them completely. >:(

Nope. He probably won't allow it into his "Low Emission Zone".

Actually, I recall someone (TVR owners club or Pistonheads IIRC) doing a procession past his house a few years ago - or at least talking about it. :-/

You need a gun - ask our military members, or take a warship up the Thames
