Assuming you have the CCR2006 being the CDX model the main on/off knob equalizes the speakers if you pull it out and adjust left or right

Yeah, include me among them!!
Swapped my old CAR 400 for a CCR600/CDC2 setup, and then wondered why I only had left hand sound. Thought the H/U was naff. Was going to give the seller a right earfull, but fortunately, spoke to Dave, who suggested trying the 'balance' knob!! 
Boy, I sure felt like a right nob too. Sorted in a flash!!
(Saved me from an embarrasing scene with seller too)

I have the same problem...just refitted front speakers (std f/F taken from CDx model) and I also only get sound from drivers side, despite adjusting the balance control knob to the middle position. I'm of course assuming I am not deaf in my left ear  ![smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
Can someone confirm speaker terminal and colour code of speaker wire that needs to be attached to the speaker  correctly ?(i.e  + and -). Haynes manual is not too clear on this topic.     Cheers

Speakers should work even if not connected correctly (+, -) Usually two coloured wire is a "-". But what it seems is no signal is getting to the speaker in your case not simply a matter of bad connection.

A few questions - did the passenger side produce sound before you started? If so, then check that the speakers you are fitting are ok, and that you have not trapped a wire down to earth, as this would disable front and rear channels on the head unit. If all appears ok, the measure continuity between the rear of the head unit and the speaker cables (unlikely to have broken both front and rear, but an earth fault would show up here) Failing all that, try connecting the speakers directly to the rear of the head unit to  see if the head is actually working or not.

Getting the +ve and -ve the wrong way round will sound a bit wierd to a purist, but from a diagnosis point of view as long as both wires are connected, you should get sound.

Upgrading to BOSE is a fair bit of work, and in my honest opinion, not worth it. Too much wiring and expense to end up with a system that sounded good 15 years ago, but technology has overtaken this considerably, and a good set of aftermarket speakers would be a far better investment
