Strange Goings On!
« on: 01 December 2009, 07:47:17 »

This morning, when SWMBO was coming home, the sunroof and the rear sun blind started working on their own!!! The sunroof had closed itself by the time she'd got home but not quite so I had to open and close it a couple of times until it closed properly. Any ideas? Everything else is normal :)

The first thing we always check whenever a faulty vehicle comes into us the the state of the battery - doesn`t matter that the car starts and runs ok, a slightly lower than normal voltage to all of the electronics in the car can have some very strange results. I have just had a similar problem with the roof spoiler on my partners Beetle - keeps going up and down at random whilst cruising the motorway - and that turned out also to be a "low" (not flat) battery.

This may not be your problem, but don`t rule it out without a quick check of the battery - most garages and tyre centres will check this free of charge for you, and takes less time than reading this email

Might be worth doing a Sunroof recycle / reset, as for the rear curtains no idea.  :-/

Thanks guys. She didn't use the car yesterday but she's gone off to work tonight so I'll find out in the morning if it's been behaving itself. I suppose if the sunroof continues to mess about, I can always pull the fuse as a temporary, dry hair, solution!

The car behaved itself ok last night. Perhaps a one off? If only it'd stop bloody raining I might be able to take a little look see >:(
