Vauxhall Part No. Needed For Towing Electrics
« on: 27 November 2009, 20:35:58 »

Is this the only part number I need:

93160931:TRAILER COUPLING ELECTRICS KIT (12S) (7 PIN) (12S)

To tow a trailer or caravan, I'm going to fit a tow bar to the omega and wanted to know if this is the only kit I need to plug into the omega to get full towing electrics which plugs into loom in the boot.

Or Do I also need

93165103 FLASH GUARD CONTROL UNIT FOR TRAILER COUPLING ELECTRICS

I got the electrics kit from tow sure for £75.00 and took it to local indie for a service and ask them to turn the feed to the fuse box on. But they could not do it with there equipment so it went to vx at £47.00 im assured all is well!

If you have the loom, there's nothing to 'turn on' you don't need any fancy equipment. Canbus cars need to be told that there's a towbar loom, but the Omega isn't Canbus. There's a fuse in the fuse box under the steering column for charging & fridge and if you use the yellow/black connection at the plug/socket you'll need the trailer brake check control ie a 'relay' that extends the car's brake light check control to the trailer which lives behind the glove box on facelift cars & above the driver's feet on preface lift cars..
