Replacing central locking controller
« on: 30 December 2009, 22:40:06 »

Hi,
Looks like I need a new controller for the central locking - knowing this also has the alarm system in it if I change it will I hit any problems with keys, etc?  Is it just a simple unplug/plug-in job or is there more to it?

Unless the place that you get the ECU from also provides you with the remote parts of the keys - i.e from a donor vehicle. This does work - I've done it.

Thanks for the help guys,
Controller changed - just unplug and plug in the new one.  Some noise when alarm plug pulled out but stopped when new one plugged in.  And it works to the key fob supplied with the controller.

Note that the 'new' fob is from a saloon with the three buttons, but works OK with the estate.  Just that the boot open button does nothing.

Next job when the weather warms up is to get the old key fob reprogrammed and a blank key cut to give me the elusive spare key at last!

Thanks again.

Colin.

If you would have answered my pm I could have sorted you with the controller and two fobs saving you a bit of money :D :D
