old display unit

Does anyone know if you can re-wire the trip computer wiring to accept a more up to date (and more accessible) one. I have a '96 3L manual elite with pixels escaping all over the  place!

you can change them but you need a new plug with about a foot of wire oit for the new unit and then you have to read the wiring and put them in order with the new wiring then there is a problem with the brown wires.
