CCRT2008
« on: 02 March 2010, 09:07:15 »

Hi folks.
Sorry, don't seem to be able to find 'search forum' so thought I'd post this one here.

Philips CCRT 2008 will only read certain cd's and of those, very often skips.

Any ideas?
Thanks

these units will play home burned discs but(not mp3)  but not for very long something to do with the grove cut into the disc
so if someone had been using home made discs the laser is kaputt and will affect original cds now too

Its the lower reflectivity of recorded media....

I looked into the control setup some years ago to try to work out why...some units can actualy up the laser power to try to overcome this and monitor the receive power via the detector PIn diode (as apposed to a BFD monitor)....of course this then shortens the laser life.

Thanks guys....

I would like to get it repaired, is that still possible? (I don't wanna put a different head unit in there, cos it would look out of place!

Any suggestions?

Cheers :-?
