No Network
« on: 12 April 2010, 20:35:26 »

Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I tried to make a call on the car-phone the other day & I got a 'no network' warning & it's still there  :( (it's showing full signal & is on O2 ).

I don't use it to call very often but I do divert my mobile phone to the car which now doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Need to ring O2 I guess - wonder if they have deactivated, they do sometimes if not chargable calls have been made in a set time period

May be worth switching off, removing sim card and re installing it... Worked last time mine did it ;)

Popping the sim card out of the full size card, is a bad idea.

Best to ring up o2 and see whats what with that number  :y

Is it not simpler to just clone a card from your ordinary phone - providing of course your are on O2 or Voda ?

I did this in one of my cars, and made sure taht I was carefull not to have them both switched on at the same time.

Saves problems with 2 numbers and 2 contracts.

Cloned card cost me a fiver from the local market

I rang them today & they said it has probably been suspended because I haven't made a charge call in over six months.

I can't remember when I last used it but I'm pretty sure it's a lot less than that.

I rang from work & the guy said can you give me the serial number & I'll re-activate the account & the credit.
I said; Err... no it's in the car.
Can you go & get it?
Err... no it's at home, I'm using the wife's car today!

Anyway I'll give them another call tomorrow.....

Phoned this morning & was told that my account is frozen & that to re-activate I have to top up with a minimum of £10 (even though there’s £5.40 credit on it) & make a chargeable call within 24hrs.

So I got a top up voucher & put the number in 6 times. Each time I was told I’d made a mistake or there was a problem.

I phoned them again & a very confused lady said she couldn’t understand what’s happening as one screen says activated & another says de-activated. I asked her to find out what’s wrong & call me back & fair play she did within a few minutes.
They have no idea why this is the case & they’re going to send me a new sim card with the same number & all should be OK.

It wasn’t until later that I thought I hope the new one is compatible with the car?  :-/

Cheers, I was wondering if maybe they'd updated & come into line with others but that's good news  :)

It's quite amusing because it says UK Cellnet when I switch to the phone!

I love 02.....(left hand, right hand.........)
was told yesterday that we don't have an account with them, but.........
We have 63 phones on a business account, and have had for the last 5 years!!!!
I dread to think how much we have paid them in that time.

I do believe that has been illegal for years, and it became so much of an issue that simply being in possession of hardware or software that enabled cloning in any way would result in the same mandatory term as what you get for having a sawn-off shotgun (5 years).
