Opel Omega (X20XEV) ECU
« on: 19 April 2010, 11:50:33 »

I have a friend with the same car as mine but he has some ECU problems. It was submerged 6 ft during lat year's storm here in Mania. We found an ECU on Ebay for his omega with the same ecu number, which we extracted fromthe Tech2 tool since the sticker on the ECU where the part no indicated is gone. The Ebay seller wants to verify if the IDENT code is the same to ensure a perfect fit. Would anyone know what will happen if we install Ebay ECU in his car without knowing if the IDENT Code are the same as his original ECU. :-/

Same as mine. So the IDENT No is like pairing with the immobilizer transponder? If he gets the whole ECU kit (ECU, Transponder and Key Chip), he should be okay, right?

No, ident is a specific model of the ECU (it may be a different revision, or may be a different config etc), thus matching the ident means it should work.  The pairing comment was simply a comment that you can't just change ECU (even with right ident) and expect it to work.

Thanks for the info TB. I think I can get the IDENT from the tech 2 tool right?

Yes, assuming you can't read sticker on ecu any more
