Having read a few of the other audio/phone posts, it seems generally accepted that most (or at least hi spec) omegas are phone prepped. Seeing as mine is an elite, with a roof twig & satnav on the 2013, is it safe to assume there is an apparently hard to get to connector under the steering colomn or behind the glovebox?

I found the phone twig connector in the drivers kick, but as my kit is a Nokia CK-15w bluetooth, I don't need that.

If so, seeing as mine has the utterly useless traffic master, has this hi-jacked the phone input to the HU, therefore making the aforementioned connector useless, and meaning it would be easier to go back to my original idea of splicing into the multipin at the back of the HU?

BTW, the display screen fits nicely above the rearview mirror, and the top-tint on the windscreen means it's virtually invisible from outside  :y

My Elite has/had Bose and ccr2006 HU (tape + 4CD changer) but no satnav or traffic master. I fitted a CK7W bluetooth & cradle a few months ago using the Autoleads adapter that connects to the phone prep plug behind the glove box.

I spent today replacing the 2ohm Bose speakers and fitting a loop back plug to link out the Bose amp.

Tomorrow I will be replacing the head unit and will be taking the glove box out to get to the phone kit wiring. I could get some photos of it if it helps?

I suppose the ideal situation for you would be if you could unplug the traffic master & plug the CK15W in instead?

If you are using the Nokia loudspeaker (& not feeding it through the HU) then the mute would probably work perfectly well if it was wired to both the TM and the CK15W at the same time as I think the mute input requires a normally open contact that closes to mute. It is a few years since I carefully connected my first hands free CARK91 to my (then new) HU though so I would double check before making any connections ;)

That would be perfect, Although I'd probably use the Nokia mic as most people seem to think the factory fit one (if I've got it) is not much cop... and I'll reserve judgement on the audio thru the HU over the Nokia speaker, easy enough to swap back if no good

I don't want the TM anyway, pulled the control box a while back as I got fed up with it demanding money from me..... same reason I'm divorced!

Am I also correct in assuming that the 6" or so multi-wire adaptor, between the 3 plugs and the HU, with the 8 or so wires going off towards the steering wheel (seperate from the rest of the looms) is for the TM, and therefore no further use? or is that for the phone pre-wire too?

I don't think you will need an extra relay, I think the hands free kit uses a tiny relay to ground the radio mute pin when it wants silence. If the TM does the same then they can both be connected to the same mute pin on the HU without harming each other (or the HU).

When I plugged the Autoleads adapter into my CK7W I couldn't get any response from the built in microphone so I used the Nokia one. It is attached by velcro to the fabric near the top of the windscreen A pillar with the wire hidden inside the plastic trim down to the dashboard. Works excellently.
I run the sound through the HU. The Autoleads kit includes a signal matching/isolating transformer but I don't think it is necessary. I tried it with and without and couldn't detect any difference so I left it in circuit.

I don't have the same HU as you but the extra little loom that connects to the steering wheel sounds like the most essential part of the wiring on the NCDC units. Without that you won't have steering wheel controls or display on the GID :-/ The Boy is the expert on that side :y

Ah, you misunderstand me. The cables only head off in that direction, I'm pretty sure that being un-loomed, and fairly poorly installed, they wouldn't be for anything factory fitted- like the steering wheel!  ;D

Despite what Autoleads say, no special relays are required - just feed the phone audio onto those pins I said on another thread.

Normally, this feeds through the trafficmaster unit, but if you have removed that, you need to loop the feed through, or lost the TM loom

Having investigated further, it looks very much like that is the TM loom. If it comes out without too much grief, then it's all yours mate.
It would appear that the phone connector shares the same audio ins? quite a clever break in tbf.
I don't appear to have a mic in mine, there is a kinda grill in the courtesy light cover tho, may see if I can get it in there...

Part number for the autoleads adaptor anyone? I may as well use the proper thing rather than chopping my harness around.

FYI, if you ground the mute wire it mutes the audio and switches to the ext input.

Normally done by a relay or open collector output in the car kit, so you should be able to do it without any additional relay/wiring etc IIRC.

Can I assume this is the offending phonekit pre-wire? was taped to the loom behind the glovebox...... bit of a git really!

If so, anyone got a part number for the adaptor cable?
