We all need to e-mail Haynes
« on: 19 February 2008, 19:09:34 »

I've just been on the Haynes manaul site to look for the Omega manual for 2000 on.
It's under the short list for consideration.
I figure if enough of us contact Haynes, they may take this into their consideration.
You may think you don't need a maual, because you have an earlier car, but hey you may have a facelift oneday  ;)

The prefacelift manual is enough, main bits missing are wiring and interior trim.

it's been my experience that the existing pre-facelift manual works just fine as a step to increase one's natural reach over the bonnet.

and as a swatter for small to middle sized spiders.

as such, i really  don;t see the need to update it or have a separate version for face lift miggys as well

I don't believe Haynes will produce a follow up for the Facelift models.
Let's face it, the Omega's an obsolete vehicle.
You 'knowledgable ones' can slag the manual off all you like. I still find it useful for quite a few things, provided you use a bit of common sense. We could all re-write it to be better I'm sure, (I can't understand why they never took the trouble to record the sizes of sockets etc. needed for different tasks). That would be a great time saving help for we mere mortals.
Hands off the Haynes Manual.  ;D ;D ;D

Yes, call it the "OOF Manual"  :y :y :y :y :y

With technical input from MarkDTM, James V6, etc.

Who shall we get to edit it ?   Loo-knee ????

I get by with Mr Haynes on my facelift but I think it is a poor publication because:

1. Local newspapers are printed on better quality paper
2. The tiny B&W pics are few and far between and vitually impossible to make out.
3. There is no index.

I cut my teeth using a Haynes manual fixing up my 1972 Marina and later an MGB GT in the mid eighties. They used to be really good in those days.

I'm with Shyboy.   It definitely has weaknesses but when supplemented by the forum I think its fine and is useful.  Not least for the torque values and wiring diagrams.

Even with the forum available, I would recommend anyone other than the most experienced to have one to hand.

Mr Haynes always used to just put a 'supplement' in the back to cover later versions of cars, facelift cars just need that, as they're not that disimilar from the older cars.

should be a fairly minor addendum to deal with the drive by wire and body work changes.   I guess whether they do it depends on the potential return vs other publications they could be doing.

TBH, there's more than enough knowledge on here....  get an e-bay prefacelift manual....  you could alway search the web for a legit version of T.I.S..
