NCDC 2015 and steering wheels controls
« on: 28 July 2010, 20:50:23 »

In my 2003 Elite there had been fitted a Kenwood system, I've taken that out, and today connected up the original NCDC 2015. I couldn't get the cage all the way in, so it was hanging halfway out, but all aerial connectors and plugs are correctly connected.
One issue has arised, the steering wheel mounted controls are permanetly lit now, even when the stereo is turned off and the vehicle locked.
I've disconnected the battery lead to save it draining the battery.
Looking through the documents with the car, there is a VX receipt for investigation work or 10 minutes with the owner asking for steering wheel controls to be checked, they replaced the controls. This obviously didn't cure it, and I think that's why a Kenwood was fitted.
I'm going to see TB at some time, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas, or has had a similiar problem in the past?

Mine stayed on for just over an hour, so something isn't quite right. I disconnected the battery so it couldn't go flat.

Yeahs they all do that sir!

TB asked this some time ago, and all replied"no they all go out, never noticed them staying on" until we went and checked, and one by one we said.....actualy.... Yes they do stay on.  :-[  :D

Believe there are certain features that stay live after the car is locked.... Iirc the speakers still hiss for a while after...or something like???

Kenwood was ok, although the steering wheel controls never worked with that unit. I've also found the CDC won't eject, so I'll probably have to buy one to strip for parts.
