What would happen to the display in my Omega if i fitted a
JVC double din DVD player in place of the NCDC  2013 i have fitted
Would any part of it still work ie computer,time etc

The display would still 'work', it will give you check control, but you will loose your sat nav in the display, also the time won't be RDS, it will be manual control. But fuel consumption, temp ect will continue to work

But if you do want to go the JVC route, be warned you will need to rip out all Bose speakers, loom and amp, and replace with standard 2Ohm speakers

Tunnie is incorrect. Nothing will work on the original display.  The GID/CID need the NCDC to control them. You can fit a MID, a stalk, and do a small bit of wiring if you want fuel computer...

Though, as Tunnie said, you will also need to rip out all the Bose/speakers.

Eh? Mother tunnies Estate with CID it had a chav-me single DIN kenwood unit and the NCDC was in bits in the boot when we first got it.

Sure display used to give some details  :-/

This is a backward step. In my old Omega 1995 i fitted a
Kenwood MP3 player  plus a Kenwood interface to allow the
display of that time to still work it scrolled the MP3 /CD titles
also the radio text (i still have these). The old display to me was easier to read. Is there no gadget that will fit in between
the JVC and the speakers. Can the old displays be fitted

As I have said above, you can fit a MID, a stalk with S/R buttons on end, and do some wiring to get the fuel computer to work.


The Bose stuff is all non standard, and will soon convert your new head unit into a smokebox.


Its certainly do-able, just not quite a case of plugging bits in (not that there is any room behind radio to plug bits in.

You can get an interface to connect JVC stereos that are steering compatable to the Omega controls, but the JVC does not support any form of display output.

The high end display you have in the car presently is controlled almost entirely through the head unit, and if you still want to retain some form of display functionality for the features of teh car, then you will have to change this display back to the original spec as others have mentioned.

just looking at everyones comments, about the removal of the unit will have to be followed by getting rid of the bose speakers. cant these speakers be wired to run on a seperate after market amp. just asking cheers

Absolutely -

However, you will need to find an amplifier that is 2 Ohm stable over each of the single channels. 99% of amps will advertise 2 Ohm stability, but only if channels are bridges together for say, a sub. This is of no use.

Once you have found a suitable (small power) amp and realised the cost of said amp, (only a few of the top brands offer this capability)  you may find it considerably cheaper to replace all the speakers instead especially as the high quality amp is going to sound absolute poo on the Vauxhall speakers.

Cheers for the info! Guess it makes sense either strip them out if you cant find the perfect amp, or stick with the actual unit and speakers and forget aftermarket hopes...

Tried loads of alternatives, converted this and that, eventually went back to the CCR700 originally fitted. Best compromise, not too bad sound, I'm afraid better to have all the features on the display and forgive the small shortcomings of the Bose unit IMHO.
