Steering wheel stereo controls
« on: 15 August 2010, 23:03:24 »

Just been out tonight and noticed my steering wheel stereo controls do not light up.

I can't decide whether they should or not  :-/ but I seem to remember they did once  ::)

I have a pioneer head unit with a steering wheel adapter which controls the stereo as I intended it to.

Should the steering wheel light up or not?  :-/

It should do, with the original stereo, with the Pioneer adaptor... Who knows!?

The head unit is a Pioneer DEH-2220UB
The adapter is a CTSVX001 Steering Wheel Interface
The patch lead is a PC99-PIO - Pioneer Stereo Patch Lead for Steering Control Adaptors.

As said, it all works very well apart from the lights in the steering wheel  ;)

Ahh right, I have the DEH P700BT (and DEH 55BT) both with the CADPI150 lead / box which does the steering controls, and talks to the MID

My steering wheel lights DO work.

your not dimmed down are you?

Thanks Jim. So the lights will work with an after market H/U etc  :y

No mate, the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree  ;)

Indecently, mine does not talk to the MID but shows the date etc instead. Is that relevant?

Unplug the steering wheel adaptor and plug it back in.
It should cure the fault, lights will light up and the date will dissapear again when the stereo is on

Found the problem.
A blue and white wired bullet connector had come adrift.
Plugged it in, the steering wheel lit up and the MID stopped showing the date.
Unplugged it and the steering wheel went off but the MID came on with the date.

I am leaving it plugged in but It would be good if it could do both  :y :y

there is a wire you can cut to sort the mid  :y

when its not connected, radio reception may be poor too, iirc it also does the aerial amp
