Alarm / Immobiliser

Hope that someone can assist, I go out to my car (Omega 2.5 TD N reg) and unlock it with the keyfob and the alarm goes off / immobiliser kicks in. the alarm is silent (have never heard it go of yet and the hazard lights flash
is this an easy fix? the last time it happened I was at home but the care is presently in the work car park :(

Is this the older infrared remote setup?

If so, I don't know much about that one  :-[

Have you recently used the key to unlock the passenger door?   I had the same problem a while back after doing this.
Try unlocking again from passenger door, turn ignition on and off, then lock it again from passenger side.

I have also never heard my alarm sound, but the lights do flash. I'm wondering if the sounder has been removed\disabled.

Yes it is an older infrared remote :(

I must admit I dont remember having opened the passenger door with the key to be honest - that said i seem to remember having opened the drivers door with the key.... i will give it a try - many thanks!

question, if this persists is it feasible to dasable the factory fitted immobiliser / alarm and just fit a new one? - it's starting to sound expensive... :(

 :-/  Don't know about disabling the immobiliser. If you do that the car won't start.

 As for the alarm, I'm sure someone will come up with the answer soon. In the meantime have a look at this link:
