In Car Entertainment - Replacement?
« on: 18 October 2010, 23:17:15 »

Hi everyone!

I'm a "new" Omega '99, X25XE owner and I was wondering - is there any device like x-carlink that could replace my stock Blaupunkt CDC2 CD Changer unit with minimal modifications? I have the following stock options:

Code: [Select]
U85 = SPEAKER,8
UV5 = MULTI-FUNCTION DISPLAY,VAT3
W1G = FOR CD CHANGER
W1Y = FOR STEERING WHEEL RADIO OPERATION
W8S = RADIO,CCR 600
W8X = ADDITIONAL PARTS,RADIO INSTALLATION

I'm interested in playing MP3s from USB pens and/or SD cards.

I'm also open to replacing the CCR600 completely, but only as long as I get to keep the functionality of the wheel buttons and the multi-function display.

Sugestions, please?

No solution to replace the changer..

There are headunits that do what you want though...

I have a pioneer unit, with usb input, and bluetooth, and have an adaptor for the screen and steering controls
(screen works fine for everything except usb though, just displays pioneer for that input for some reason)

Thanks for the reply. Could you point me to the model of your head unit and the adapter?

Am I understanding corectly that everything else (except the display of track names/numbers played from USB) works corectly, as expected? (volume, radio station searching, prev/next track etc.)

Mine are a few years out....but I have this adaptor

http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=CADPI150

gone up since i bought my 2  :'(

and the following stereos:
Pioneer DH700BT
Pioneer DEHP55BT

The pioneer term for what you want is 'sub display out'
it shows radio station freq or name
cd track number and time
Telephone

for other inputs just Pioneer  :'(  I raised as a support issue and got fobbed off.....I then changed my question to ok then, which of your current models will output USB track info....and been ignored, so guess that means I found an error noone else has and they cant fix it.

looks like it would do the job, but is fixed in blue...ours all have user selectable colours to match the car

other manufactures do similar things

Sony, Kenwood, Alpine...
Id check out all their offerings, as the pioneer route isnt cheap, and wouldnt offer a solution that I think looks as good as mine currently.

i just bought a pioneer fh-p80bt which i have yet to install unfortunately that is also stuck in blue but dnddave has clarion head units for 209 quid which look really good and you can choose the colour of the display, had i been in England that's what i would have gone for
