I am planning on buying a Sony DSX-S300BTX Head unit to replace the one in my Omega Elite facelift.

I know I will have to replace all the speakers in the car.
Can i Use the existing wiring and simply replace the existing speakers?
Or is the Omega car headunit wired to the Bose Amp first, which then feeds all the speakers? In which case, what is the work around?

I am guessing I will need to find an ISO adapter to interface between the omega (and steering controls) and the Sony head unit.
Can any1 recommend one?
Or is there one that will also interface with the MID?

I under stand that the Bose amp will need to go, So can anyone recommend a replacement amp that is slim enough but can also also power the Subwoofer (read next question) and if required, all the rest of the cars speakers (if I am forced to use the amp to power the speakers - using the existing wiring)

Last question is, I will want to fit a 'flat' subwoofer to replace the one on the rear shelve.
Can anyone recommend one that is slim enough and will deliver a nice sound?

The Bose set up is, Head Unit - Bose Amp - Speakers, so yes, you cannot mix and match your existing Bose system, as Head Unit output levels, impedeance and Amp input are different from the norm, and the speakers are 2 ohms and not your standard 4ohms, so best to start a fresh.

If thinking of a after market set up with amp in the the back, then I assuming your need to run Line Level cables to it, so whilst your doing that and changing speakers, think I would be inclined to do a complete rewire and possibly leave the Bose wiring in-situ so you can always revert back to the Bose set up when you sell the car, or rip out the Bose wiring complete and re sell the Bose set up complete.

As for your Sony HU, sorry cant help there, dont know the model, there are steering wheel adapters available for certain HU's but not all, again for the MID could be possible dependent on HU but your just duplicating info thats already on the HU.

Amp, speakers and subs are all a mater of personal choice and budget, so I think I'll keep out of that one.

Unit has to have remote control capability (in case of Sony a jack at the back of the unit same as for 3.5mm headphones) so check that first.
Steering interfaces are around 20 pounds on ebay.
You'll have to rewire the speakers if your curren setup is Bose.
There was also MID interface available before but only for certain radio models which had a dedicated output I believe and were pretty expensive both interface and stereo

Does this mean that if i take out the amp and speakers, there will be no point, as the wires to power the speakers all originate from the bose amp?

Can i do the following:
leave bose amp,
take out all speakers,
install new head unit,
install new speakers.
(So forget about the separate amp to power the subwoofer)

What i mean to say is, if i replace the speakers, can i use an iso adapter for the new sony headunit to interface with the car to power the new speakers ive just installed.
(Just like a regular car)
