Speaker Help
« on: 15 November 2010, 09:55:50 »

I will be replacing the 2 front and rear door speakers, also the Subwoofer and Rear 6x9's.

Can someone tell me some of the following information:
what is the maximum size and depth the Front door speakers can be?
what is the maximum size and depth the Rear door speakers can be?
what is the maximum size and depth the 6x9 speakers can be?

Also with each, would I need an adapter set?

I just want to make sure I get the correct speakers, so that the door cards fit perfectly.

Many Thanks,

Raj

The fronts can go up to 165mm using the Corsa style sloped mounting adaptor but you will need to space the speaker out from the adaptor about 6mm too. Clearance at the rear is very tight as the window glass comes down behind the speaker.

Not got any measurements but a pair of Rainbow SLX265 deluxe just fitted so if you can find some measurements for those you'll know the maximum.

Not sure about the rear speakers, I'm afraid.

Where are you 6x9s? These are never standard fit in the Omega.

If you are on about the Bose rear shelf ones, you don't have the wiring for them (and I doubt your chosen headunit could drive them anyway), so you are probably just looking at fitting the 4 door ones.

Hi,

I would like to take out the Bose shelf speakers and replace them with some others.
I will wire in an amp in place of the Bose amp, which will power the 6x9's.

I will also look for a 'slim' sub woofer that can also be powered from the amp.

So why go to the effort of hacking the car loom, if you want an amp anyway? Surely leaving the loom as was, and replacing bose amp with another was the way to go?

Or have I got things confuddled?
