A 'Safe' question
« on: 18 December 2010, 21:12:15 »

Hi all,

Back with another question this time regarding the stock radio. I've looked around for answers to my question but hasn't found one, so thought I might as well fire it off here for all you clever pplz.  :)

Due to a small but not insignificant human error, my battery ran flat due to the emergency lights being on after the car was left. This was a detail missed by the person who'd borrowed the car and so it blinked for a day or two until it finally went out. I was away at the time and came back a few days later (which was today) and ofc the car was completely dead on the battery.

So. I got it jumpstarted and ran it and it ofc works beautifully again - BUT! The radio says 'SAFE' in the display when switched on and nothing else can be done about it.

I've read some ppl talk about the AS button and some code or whatnot but I have no code or any such thing and just wondering what losing power completely has done and what I need to do to get it running again?

It's a 2000 model 2.5 imported from Italy, originally, if that helps with a stock radio that, despite its 2000 make date is actually a tape! I'll replace this eventually but for right now I just need the radio to come back on.

Can any of you help me? Thank you in advance. :D

You will need a code for the radio.

if you haven't got a code for the radio you have two choices
1-get a car pass from local stealers £25 to £50 depending on where you go, but will only give you the original radio code
2-or contact davednd in the forum

Thanks guys! Where in the instructions I have gotten would I actually find the code printed?

Also, can you or someone show the procedure for actually getting to the place where I can type the code?

Thanks again!! :)

it is not in the instructions, it is on the carpass which is  credit card size  :y
also someone might have written the code somewhere in your manuals or even on the back of the unit, if your lucky  ;)
and if you have the intructions the procedure for inputting code is in there, what radio is it ?

I'll try and find that out but thanks for the swift and good responses!

What I can say now is that its a tape-player and the car's from 2000, so came with that but again, I'll revert with more specifics and see if we can't get this thing cracked open. :)
