CDC2 Changer
« on: 26 December 2010, 20:16:59 »

Hi everyone! Merry Crimbo to you all, hope you all had a good one! Right, here goes, lol, this will be quite a long explanation lol.

Got a Blaupunkt CDC2 6 disc changer off ebay (I also got a CDC1 which I found out too late would not match so if anyone is looking for one) after reading on here which one I needed to match the headunit (CCR800 Bose) got code from Dave @ DND with his online look up. So far so good lol, now my wiring loom that plugs into the changer was mangled just before the socket that plugs into the changer, but it was the right socket compared to the CDC1 changer, and the CDC2 I got came with the socket and some extra loom. Got some terminal blocks and started wiring the two looms together, cable for cable if you see what I mean. Now the only cables I wasnt sure about are the two reds and the two browns, all the others were easy enough to match up. Im assuming (going by the wiring diagram) nthat these cables are for the L and R channels, or am I wrong?

Anyway, plugged socket into changer, no problems, heard changer cycle through discs, got into car and entered code, code accepted and it started to play! Yeeeha! Got something right for a change, lol! So, it plays, well sort of lol, when playing a track theres no odd noises coming out, but heres  the problems, it loaded up with the first disc, gave the info on display i.e. amount of tracks, disc number etc, now sometimes it will play track one from the start and work its way through the tracks on that disc then change to the second disc, which it tells you on display but wont ply that track. If I move the track forward, track two will start or track three etc up to a certain point then it moves forward to the next track, display shows next track but it doesnt play or may take a while to play.

I do know you can get problems with burned discs, I'm using Verbatim Extra-Life which are "seemingly" one of the good ones, so tied it with "proper" bought CDs, bit of old Fleetwood Mac and some old AC\DC never hurts lol. Anyway, these do the same, will sometimes start from track one, or hang when you select tracks, so the same symptoms as the burned discs. Tried it with the discs in different slots, tried swapping the reds over, then same again with the browns, no difference. I cleaned the laser and wheel before I fitted the changer and had it back out again earlier to give it another clean, just in case lol, so it was disconnected for two hours from car, but still the same issues lol. any help/ideas gratefully received lol, now wheres that turkey!

Doh! Forgot to say, no error codes for cdc on display

I have just seen and read the earlier post about the CCRT700 AND CDC2 does the same apply to my setup i.e. remove headunit, install CDC2 then install radio and code in?

With regard to the cable colours, On Vauxhalls Brown is 0V earth and Red is +12V.

The symptons seem to suggest that the laser is possibly struggling.

Lol freecall666, I'm a nighthawk so I still get my answers when the evensong comes and the genteel retire, gives the dayshift something to
think about, lol!

VXL V6, agree on that one so why two reds and two browns? Not arguing, just asking, thats why I may think I could be wrong about them being L and R feeds, does that mean the blue/yellow and blue/brown are for the channels? Dontcha just love electrics lol!
