thanks for the replies folks - so desperate am i that i may have sourced a for sale full running order 1999 2litre...

Going to check paint codes from vin and examine its doors properly....

Jim its a "retail" car in Scotland - not a spares or repair :-[

81L is diamond black metallic if it help's ,should be on the coloured plate under the bonnet on the right next to vin plate :y :y :y82L is star silver also :y :y :y

I presume the mere existence of so many variants means that it's quite cheap to mix the various different colours.
Do these modern paints still suffer the old problem of colour change through age? I can remember workshops doing patch-up spray jobs by visually matching colours from swatches, which sometimes resulted in their using a different shade from the original to get a good match.
