Auto changer sulking
« on: 25 April 2011, 18:21:47 »

I have a Philips DC012 auto changer which is not working . I went to put a disc in it, and  discovered the cassette had ejected itself with the outer cover closed I managed to get the cover open and put a disc into an empty tray put it back in. Normally I can hear it shuffling the discs but nothing. I switched on the head unit. CD came up but no info on which disc or track. After pressing on/off it showed 1st ER-2 then ER-1. I went to eject the cassette  the green light showed but wouldn't eject. took the unit out and to pieces and discovered that the new disc and I guess the disc that was originally in tray 1 but left in the player jammed in the player.. I've got the discs out  and manually ejected the cassette but still no joy on playing discs ???  martinH

Have you been using home made CDs in this unit?

Yes a couple of burnt cds is that a problem? They haven't started to fall to pieces or anything, definately no bits thrown off. ??

Recordable CD`s will have killed the laser (Error fault), see here:

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1300229193

and you will probably find that the elevator mech is not far behind it from failing also (starting to retain the CD`s)

Parts are long gone I`m afraid.

Well thanks for that Dave I won't mention that you're the same chap that suggested a Starsky & Hutch solution for my missus when the drivers door wouldn't open, you're not far enough away. I wish I'd read your link a couple of years ago. It's looks like it's Jeremy Vine for me then aargh!! Cheers martinH

I`m fairly sure I recall a very recent post on here of someone getting rid of a changer and head unit, worth having a quick trawl or posting a wanted ad, as it may provide a solution for you.
