One too many plugs left over after engine refit!
« on: 09 June 2011, 20:27:24 »

Ive just refitted the X30XE engine in my 1999 Omega Elite and have a "spare" wire connector which for the life of me I cannot work out where it goes. Its a two wire connector the comes out of the plastic loom case that runs adjacent to the cam cover and plenum on the oil filler cap side, the wire exits the case just below the idle valve and in front of the oil filler neck. Has any one any ideas where it is supposed to go?

Many thanks in advance,
Phil.

Its too short to reach that far back, Its only comes out of the loom cover about 3 inches and I can't see anything within reaching distance apart from the idle valve but its a different fitting and Ive found what appears to be the one for that.

I forgot to mention its a male connector.

the only thing I can see around there on my car is the connector for the knock sensor, the cable fro it come upwards & clips to the back cambelt rear cover/guard.  :y

Knock sensor and cam sensors are short, and just in front of ICV.

Crank sensor done the OOF way may be just behind ICV, but that is 3 pin.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I off out there again in a bit to have another go at it, still got to work out where all the little black vacuum pipes go yet too. Ideally I need to find somebody locally with the same car so I can compare.

A picture of the offending plug would help. Gut feeling is that it's likely to be knock sensor or cam sensor.

Failing that, can you see what colour wires feed it? Might be able to identify it on a wiring diagram then. A photo would likely identify it, though. :y

I think OP means this one, not owning a V6 I can`t name it but the female end travels down towards top hose connection and seems to disappear into the rear of cambelt casing.

Thanks for all the input, it was the knock sensor one. I had plugged the knock sensor into the temp sensor. All sorted know expect the bigger problem is it fired up and ran lovely for 15 minutes before seizing again.
