good replacement speakers?
« on: 14 June 2011, 16:02:08 »

i want to improve teh audio slightly if i can, its not terrible, but the speakers sound like they are very used!
HU isnt great, voloumn nob only works if you turn it very slowly, but meh just use steering wheel controls, so i think speakers 1st, its a CDR2005,   i dont want to spend too much really, so looking for some half decent direct replacemnts for the doors.  i havnt checked but did some omegas have more speakers in the rear shelf? i dont think i have any there but could that be changed easy?

thanks for help, really not going for big sounds in this on, just nice sounds lol

just to add
i know i could swap out the double din for a aftermarket HU
but i kinda like having teh display and steering controls, i think if i just "refreshed" the speakers and maybe a slight HU upgrade, that would be fine for me! kinda wanting to keep it all OE just getting slightly better stuff on it

Std head unit is not too great with after market speakers - tends to struggle a little.

May be worth fitting speakers off a breaker.

Or look for sensitive after market ones.

Just make sure they are Dave DND approved as there is a lot of junk out there.

The CDR2005 has a particularly weak output.  The CCR2006, a straight swap, has a better built in amp, but is pricey for what it is, even 2nd hand.

Oh, an amp is a must IMHO. TBH, the standard speakers didn't sound too bad once they weren't being driven by the 2006. Encumber it with less sensitive speakers and it'll be dire.
