Could my auto-box problem be electrical???
« on: 30 June 2011, 10:43:47 »

i have a 2.2 cd auto omega and the box sticks in 1st gear periodically, but if i select sports mode the box works fine. ive spoken to a few auto box specialists and one says change fluid and filter, (already done that) and another said that if the box works in sport mode then it must be electrical/electronic...

any ideas guys, totally bemused by it all... :-/ :-?

By "periodically" do you mean on a cold start for about 30 seconds ??? If so this it completely normal and is done to assist cat heating in order to reduce pollution.

If it is happening when the gearbox/engine are well warm then first thing to check is the fluid level.

I had what I thought was serious problems with my autobox and must admit gave a lot of folk nightmares on the forum. auto transmission guy could not find the fault and only by chance did I notice the the big round blue plug from the wiring loom was just sitting and not connected properly. Worth a look.
