Hi

I got round to investigating the rear 12v socket which is not currently working.  Tested the port, and totally dead.  Took the centre console off and tested the connector, that too was dead.  Checked the earth end of the connect and that is okay, but there is just no positive feed.

I assume it is on the same feed as the front cig port?  Have read somewhere about a timed relay to keep it on for a bit, could this be faulty?

Any ideas would be gratefully received!

Replaced with new one and tried a known working one, no difference.

Does interior light come on when front doors are opened. Does the delay facility work :question

Interior lights come on when front doors opened, rear interior lights come on when rear doors opened as well.

Not sure how to check the delay facility, but the windows do work after key is removed, if that is part of the same system?

sorry if this is a basic question but are you testing with engine/ignition on?

Not basic! Each time I try it the ignition is on, I am testing it using a multimeter, and test the front one each time first just to make sure all is working.

I have not tried with the engine on, shall try that but do not expect it to make a difference.

If the fuse is OK the next thing to check is relay K154. This is up above the pedals in the driver's footwell. You'll find a little group of 3 relay holders.

K154 has 4 wires feeding it.
1 Red to pin 30
2 Red and White to pins 87 and 86
1 Brown to pin 85

The red one (pin 30) should have 12 volts on it permanently.
The thicker Red and White one (pin 87) should connect to the positive pin on the socket. (verify with an ohmmeter).
The thin red and white wire (pin 86) should have 12v on it with the ignition on or for a few minutes' delay afterwards.
The brown wire (pin 85) should be connected to chassis negative.

If that all seems OK it might be worth swapping the relay.

Stuck!  I have had a look under the steering wheel at the relays, and none of them say K154 on or near them.  I pulled the unit out and had a look at the wires, and none of them had the same colour wires going to them as you described!

When Kev said above the pedals, he meant actually directly above the pedals. Remove the card (3 or 4 1/2 turn fasteners) stick your head in the foot well & look 'above the pedals'

Oops...again!

Right then, found what you were talking about, I think...



However as you can see, no bank of 3 relays, just 1!  Clear to see why the rear cig port is not working...no relay plugged into the port with the wires previously mentioned.  I assume it is just a case of plugging one back in?  Any reason it would have been removed?  Does it control anything else?

Also, I will still then only have 2 relays...where is the third, and what should that do!

You could probably pick up a generic relay at Halfords that'll fit, and it'll be cheaper than going to a main dealer.

Just look for a SPST relay that has the same arrangement of pins (i.e. numbered 30, 85, 86 and 87), rated at 20 Amps or more.

Thanks, just popped to Maplins on the way home and got a 40A SPNO Auto 12Vdc with 4 pins 30, 85, 86 & 87

However when I look at the wires in relation, the brown (30) and thicker red/white (87) are correct, but the other two wires are the other way round to what you said, does that matter?

Have tried it and it works okay  just waiting for the delay to happen and for it to turn off.  Wondering however if this is the feature that will not work and it will just remain permanently live?
