Hi.

I've been having troubles with my factory fitted reversing sensors (no sound at all, not even fault tone, seem to be dead). We're suspecting about the wiring.

Next week we are going to test them with a multitester, but we are missing a sheet with the correct values to compare.

I can't find nothing in the TIS.

Where is that data?  :-/

Problem in looms mean that replacing wiring should fix it?

Also, I've only been able to find this wiring scheme in the TIS. It's clickable and you can browse to lots of other schemes and drawing, but I can't figure out what I need:

I'm sure you know this, but the 2-wire loom goes to an external speaker (situated at the top of the C-pillar above the headlining on an estate). Have you checked that this speaker is working/connected properly?

Might be worth connecting a different speaker across those 2 pins to confirm...

We're no yet working on the sensors, but I've found a diagnostic procedure in the TIS.

There is a section there called "Checking procedure (Tech 2)" which holds an overwhelming quantity of data. In the beginning, you can choose some different sensor systems for different models and years, but the Omega isn't listed there. This is the list:




Is there a chance that the highlighted entry, which is the oldest, is the right one for our Omegas?

I don't think this will work. To my knowledge the park pilot systems fitted to Omegas are basically standalone systems (only connected to the vehicles loom at the reversing light feed) so as such, cannot be interrogated by tech2.

Did you check to see if the speaker is working as I suggested before?

I'm told that the sensor vibrate to the touch when activated by an obstacle... might be an easy way to check that they are working.

Sadly true. Tech 2 doesn't read the system. We'll check the vibration. If it vibrates, it's the speaker; otherwise it's the black box. I'm being told about buying a new box. How much will it cost?

try a speaker change first as said - I have been down the road of being told "if it is not that then it is this" - but sadly on mine the sensors and the ecu have been tested to be working but I still have a fault. See if you can test the control unit with one known to be working before buying a new one.

Good news.

Sensors and ECU are working fine. It was the speaker indeed.

We've connected the wires to a regular speaker and to my relief it was beeping. We've not yet reached the speaker. Maybe it is just disconnected. If it is really faulty, we are fitting in a phone or computer speaker. This way we'll avoid the waiting for the Opel part.

Is such speaker fine for beeping duties or should we go with the original Opel part?

I'm grateful for the offer, but we are finishing the job tomorrow, and the sending from the UK will take a more or less a week. We'll fit any other speaker and see how it works.
