Robbie j here, a new member.  I've got a 2.5V6 which is a great car, but something strange happened whilst coming back from North Wales last Friday afternoon.
I was cruising along quite happily on the A55 when the ABS and Traction Control warning lights came on and the speedo dropped to zero.  The computer display also went awol.  After a while everything started working normally, and since then the fault comes and goes.  A pal who has an auto-electrical business tested it on his diagnostics TECH 1 and no fault was found and suggested I ought to get the fault diagnosed on a TECH 2, but the abs sensors seem OK.  It may be the abs pump.
Has anyone had this happen to their car?  When the cause is sorted, any suggestions where to get the part please?

Hello & Welcome 

That is a classic ABS ECU faulire im afraid.

You can have them repaired - a bond wire breaks inside.

or you can buy a new one from one of the breakers on here - get the same years, engine size, and gearbox type.

If yuo go this route - place a wanted ad in the test zone and ill move it.

theres a fair few local mobile mechanics to the area it happened if its not a job you can tackle (see maint guide section, index in my sig, for whats involved) , but obviously dont know where you live.

I had the same symptoms when my alternator failed
although my car started sutting down one system at a time until dead
yours has come back to life but maybe worth checking the charging system

Classic abs ecu failure as Jimbob suggests I'm afraid.  May come and go for a while but will eventually fail - lights on, no sopeedo, no cruise, some power steering loss.  Only cure swap/replace/repair abs ecu

If you consider the repair option .. was around £130 with a 2 year warranty from BBA Reman about 4 years back .... was well pleased with their service.

Or PM Albs. He's breaking a car with the same engine and gearbox as yours. I think he still has the complete unit available.
