Now I get it!

Ashes to Ashes is showing me that the current situation in the UK is a product of a wrong turn after the early eighties!  :o ;D

Nah, that was a good move.  Lately though it's been one of those gentle death spirals in the fog.  You know, a 1G turn in in zero visibility when the instruments are all screaming that you are going to crash but you carry on blithely?  Happened to JFK Jr.

At least every few years we do something about it.  ::)

Nope, the UK wasn't formed until 1801.  ::)

It would appear to be the case although, of course, America was a colony of Great Britain. The United Kingdom was formed through the Act of Union in 1801 with the merger of the Kingdoms of Great Britain and Ireland. That's when the taxes really started to rise.  :(

Still appears that bugger all happened in the 17th Century. Must have been a nightmare for CNN.  ;D ;D ;D

Quite right Sir. Georgia being the main penal colony and named after George II. Still, nothing happened in the 17th Century.  :(
