My wife is a charming lady of diminutive stature and we have the same problem. She ends up much closer to the wheel than is ideal, but at least she can see over the top.  

Mines a short arse too, she liked your description better though. Sometimes, when in a brave mood, I call her 'Toby'  
The youngsters on the site won't know what a toby jug is.

It's a no no. I think it would invalidate your insurance, or at least persuade Insurance coy. to refuse to pay out.

As long as the insuance company knows that the airbag has been disconected in writing, they would have to pay out if any thing happen. If you don't tell them that when the sh*t hit's the fan (so to speak) and they worm out and not pay
