tonnes of room for the doggies - especially in the LWB version, which only comes with LSE spec.

Full MOT too, usually they sell when about to run out, so he's clearly confident it's OK structural / bodywise. (I'll check on advisories)...

I'm seriously tempted, subject to getting good money for the meega!!

I do but, these things are few and far between in good condition...

I would HAVE to DIY LPG it, though !!

4275cc V8 (40D) is a rare old beast but, only just under 9:1 compression ratio so plenty of torque but, very little Bhp (probably on a par with 3.0 Omega at best). Did you know this lump used the crank stock originaly destined for the failed rover Iceburg diesel V8?

Check the service history very carefuly as the V8 doesn't last well beyond 60K miles unless its had VERY regular oil changes because, the cam and followers wear, the rockers and shaft wear and the timing chains stretch. The trouble is that when these lumps start to die they run on 7 or 7.5 cylinders and nobody notices!

The old trick is to stick your finger in the rocker cover, if it feels smooth then all is good....if your finger comes out covered in tar.....walk away.

Ow yes, dont ever buy one if you suffer from sea sickness  :y

Cheers Mark...

I just fancy a change. Speed isn't an issue - (I need to slow down).. neither is regular distance commuting a problem anymore - I use the train.

I also don't find Omega engines much of a challenge anymore, I'd like to learn about a different lump...

I would LOVE a RR, especially a LSE like this, but I'm hugely worried about finding one that's not full of rot...

Lol, the chassis is problematic with respect to rust......and the auto boxes don't last 2 minutes off road!

Trouble is, there is nothing technical or challenging about the lump in these, its simple single cam technology, push rods, 2 valves per cylinder, single timing chain.....anchient injection setup

Did wonder about that. An automatic 4x4 doesn't sound like much fun at all. Hope the auto box gives more engine braking than the Omega's.  :o

My auto rangey was great on - road.

I really miss her, I would still drive it today, if it wasn't as rotten as a peach  :-[

There were 3 or 4 different ones used through out production.....interestingly, the early BW boxes were about the best!

Not quite on a par with a manual though, although that's probably down to the slop in the torque converter. I wouldn't fancy 4x4'ing in an auto.
