I have had a notice from Cumbria Constabulary....
« on: 06 March 2008, 20:40:42 »

Got a letter today, from some who is a deptuty Manager / File Decsion Maker?

They said:

"I have been informed you are the owner of Vauxhall Omega Elite V6 S430..

To assist me with my enquires can you forward details to this office, from whom you bought the vehicle and the date the transaction took place"

Slightly worried at this...

Far as i know car has never been to Cumbria....

I bought it off James, who got it off Max.

The log book was signed by Max, James fixed it, i bought it. signed the log book, dated both signutures and posted the log book off.

Any ideas what to do? I am guessing honesty is the best policy??? Ring up the office who sent this and explain what happend and tell the truth?

or even a cloned car in cumbria

scam sounds more likely, since police obviously know the car is registered to you they'd be more likely to contact you in person

a mate of mine sold a car to a guy, a week later the police knocked on his door cos it had been involved in a hit and run

Hang on... the police have access to the DVLA database.... so why do they need those 2 details? They should have those logged...

in January 05 i had a brand new vx zafira in february the speeding
tickets started to arrive .On average one a week for two months give or take a week . After a lot of phone calls to Police forces all over the country it was an Audi A4 they wanted that had mistakenly been given my reg number by the supplying dealer.
