Bring on the Snow
« on: 23 September 2011, 18:20:09 »

Collected the Jeep today, drove it home and spend about half an hour with the handbook sorting things out, gave up with the auto seating and turned it off ::) ::)  When you switch off the engine the seat moves back to help let you out, may have another go tomorrow..... :)

Very different drive to the Omega, but very light, which suits me, and surprisingly quick, got to watch the 30mph limit, it just goes straight past it where the Omega I had to press the pedal more... ::) ::) ::)

Oh, and it has leather seats, I don't like leather but this leather is so soft and supply, like sitting in your favourite arm chair.... :y :y :y

Enjoy it Vamps - driving a much taller vehicle with big balloon tyres and softer suspension takes a bit of getting used to - not as chuckable as the Omega :)

Have a look on jeepchryslerparts.co.ukand bookmark it - good source of new parts and they sell loads on ebay too - I use it for bits for my Ford Explorer and they seem like they know their stuff.

My old Jeep would go anywhere in the snow but didn't stop any better than anything else, just be wary if you've not had a 4x4 before :y

Indeed, a lot of 4x4 owners seem to forget that while not all cars have four wheel drive (and therefore struggle to get going) - all cars have 'four wheel stop'! So unless you've got M&S tyres on, it won't stop any better.. or steer, for that matter..

I hadn't realised that they were now into autoparts, must look closer when I next visit.

Yes, you are quite right, was saying to swmbo, not particularly any better on the ice..... I have had Series Landrovers in the past and used to to some off roading in the early 90's so have a pretty good idea of what to expect......
4 Brand new AT Tyres have been put on............My Dad thinks I am Mad though :D :D :D
Done a few miles today so getting a good feel of how it drives...... Got to cut the hedge tomorrow or middle vamps won't be able to get past with his motorbike.... ::) ::) ::)

Indeed - I wasn't necessarily thinking of you when I made that comment, Vamps :) but more the number of people you see driving them as status symbols and boasting how they can "go anywhere" (right up until the point they "go anywhere" into a hedge..) - had a few of those at work last year, mostly in sales ;)

Funny you should mention Series landys - I saw a 110 "pickup" the other day and thought to myself "that would make an awfully practical battle wagon".. shame they only come in two kinds; expensive or rotten!
